On Wednesday 12th October, we had the honour of welcoming a member of the Royal Family to visit Sherburn House. His Royal Highness, Duke of Gloucester visited Sherburn House and Chain Lane Community Hub as part of his visit to Knaresborough.
The Duke started his visit at Chain Lane Community Hub, meeting their team and members of Your Consortium as well as our Chair of Trustees Tony Denness, Chief Executive Paul McCay, and Directors of Operations Debbie von Malachowski and Karen Roberts. The Duke was given a tour of the Hub before being escorted to Sherburn House.
At Sherburn House, the Duke was greeted by Head of Operations Jayne Cooper, Architect Simon Scarfe and Assistant Manager Abbie Addison. Jayne, Simon and Abbie gave the Duke the grand tour, discussing the building of Sherburn House and how it was designed to meet the needs of the people we support. The Duke had the opportunity to meet those who live at Sherburn House, along with their family members and of course the hard working support workers. It was a brilliant day for a Royal Visit too; everyone was in good spirits and the ‘music man’ had stopped by to provide some entertainment!
It really was an honour to welcome the Duke to Sherburn House; how often do you have the opportunity to show how wonderful your service is to royalty? We’d happily do it again though! Credit has to go to the Sherburn House team though for helping to create the welcoming environment that the people we support can call their home.
Our Director of Operations Debbie von Malachowski had the following to say about our Royal Visit;
‘We had the privilege of HRH the Duke of Gloucester visiting Sherburn House recently. All the customers and family members present gave him a very warm welcome and were proud to showcase their fabulous home and shared with him some of the activities they love to do. Our thanks goes to all the staff who worked so hard to make this Royal visit such a great success!’
