Since Anthony has moved into his own home supported by The Wilf Ward Family Trust, the team have used an Active Support approach to enable Anthony to develop his skills, independence, and quality of life. Anthony could cook when he first moved in but his repertoire was quite small. He now plans his meals – including making a list of the ingredients he needs from the supermarket – and cooks them.
He is also involved with coaching his local football team, and he loves live music and writing poetry. He represents his region at Jigsaw and he recently attended a conference in Sunderland about Citizenship. His confidence has come on in leaps and bounds thanks to his incredible support team, always encouraging him to find his feet with new things!
Anthony’s is a story of boldly entering new territory, developing confidence and new skills! This story is a testament to how greater empowerment, independence and autonomy can be achieved through outstanding support.
