We are absolutely thrilled to share some truly outstanding news from one of the people we support — Jake, who has achieved something remarkable!
At the weekend, Jake proudly represented Team GB at the European Down Syndrome Swimming Championships, where all his hard work, dedication, and passion paid off as he won Bronze in the T21 200m Butterfly!
This is an incredible accomplishment, and we couldn’t be prouder. Jake’s commitment to swimming is inspiring — he trains five times a week, continually pushing himself to reach new goals. Since joining Down Syndrome Swimming GB in 2016, Jake has dreamed of winning a medal at a major international competition, and this weekend, that dream became a reality.
Through our Dream Big funding, The Wilf Ward Family Trust were able to support Jake in his journey this year — and his success is a shining example of what can be achieved when people are supported to chase their biggest ambitions.
Jake isn’t just part of a community — he represents one. He’s a brilliant role model for people with learning disabilities, showing what’s possible when passion, support, and determination come together.
We’d also like to extend a big well done to all of Jake’s teammates at Down Syndrome Swimming GB, many of whom also brought home medals — what a fantastic achievement for the whole team!
Now, as Jake takes pride in this amazing milestone, we know he’s already thinking about his next goal — and we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way.
From everyone at The Wilf Ward Family Trust: Massive congratulations, Jake — we are so proud of you!
