Donations and legacies can make a huge difference to the lives of the individuals we support. Social care remains severely underfunded, but despite this the Trust continues to strive to deliver high quality care and support. Donations and legacies are not used to meet the running costs of the Trust, instead we use them to purchase equipment, buildings and technology that helps enhance the quality of life of the individuals we support.
Examples of how we have spent legacy funds over the past number of years includes:
- The purchase of a property that was being leased from a housing association. This allowed us to reduce rental costs and invest in the property when the housing association was unable to do so. The reduction in rental costs means that this legacy has had a long-term impact on the financial health of the Trust
- The purchase of four interactive projectors. Each projector costs more than £9,000 to purchase and service. However, it has enabled some individuals with very profound needs to play football, to learn how to grab and hold items and to play games with family and friends. This benefits not only physical health via increased movement but also enhanced cognitive activity
- A donation of more than £120,000 to develop a hydrotherapy pool. This donation has then led to the development of plans to create a Community Hub (with hydrotherapy pool) in Pickering
If you can, please make a donation or legacy to help the Individuals We Support live extraordinary lives.
