This is Peter, he lives at one of our Ryedale services. Peter has been volunteering for the North York Moors National Park for over 20 years now! He works every other Wednesday, and thoroughly enjoys the various different tasks the role entails, like planting trees and hedges, installing fencing, cutting bracken, and much more. He enjoys the company of the other volunteers and has made some great friends while working there. He enjoys getting out and about and visiting different locations to do his role.

Staff who support Peter are extremely proud of him for doing something he loves that benefits the environment too, and the North York Moors National Park said “We are very proud to have Peter on the team”.

Volunteering as a gardener for a national park provides the opportunity to make a positive environmental impact, enjoy nature, stay active, and connect with others—factors that collectively create a highly fulfilling experience.
